Now that school has started and your adorable child is surrounded by snotty sweet kids, it’s time to bulletproof them, as much as possible, so they don’t get those snotty sweet kid’s germs.
Cuz what happens when they get sick?
They don’t take care of themselves! Ha, ha ha, HAAAA!
It’s on YOU!
You’re the one that has to miss work, you’re the one that gets thrown up on, you’re the one that has to deal with the cranky, miserable kid. And, if you’re lucky, maybe you WON’T be the one that catches their sickness and maybe you don’t become a snotty miserable monster yourself.
Is there anything worse than taking care of sick child WHILEEEE you’re sick too?? Oh, wait there is- taking care of your sick HUSBAND! #JustKidding #MaybeNot
Use these next 2 tips to help strengthen your kid’s immune system so this winter season, you don’t ever have to wonder, “do I clean the throw up off of him first, or me? ”
Number one tip is a drink I call “Apple Tea.”
This tea is made out of three ingredients…water, raw apple cider vinegar (with the mother), and raw honey.
Now, I know you may be thinking apple cider vinegar is the grossest thing ever but, fear not! When you combine it with the honey, it’s DAMN GOOD! My kids drink it without a problem! If it’s kid approved it’s gotta be good, right?
The apple cider vinegar and honey are a dynamic powerhouse when it comes to boosting the immune system. Apple cider vinegar is full of minerals, vitamins, and trace elements such as potassium, calcium, magnesium, phosphorous, chlorine, sodium, sulfur, copper, iron, silicon, and fluorine. Vitamins like Vitamin C, Vitamin E, Vitamin A, Vitamin B1, Vitamin B2, Vitamin B6, Provitamin beta-carotene, Vitamin P, and just a crapload more. Everything your immune system needs to stay strong and functional!
*Always look for ACV “with the mother” which means it contains all of its nutritional properties. My go-to brand is Braggs and it says ‘With the Mother” right on the label.*
Raw honey rocks because it’s jammed packed with antiseptic and antibacterial properties. Honey contains natural antioxidants, enzymes, copper, iron, silica, vitamin B, manganese, chlorine, calcium, potassium, sodium, phosphorous, aluminum, and magnesium. Raw honey is a concentrated source of natural goodness.
• High nutritional benefits
• Promotes the growth of good bacteria in the intestine
• Soothes and heals skin wounds
• Blocks free radicals
• Aids sleep
• Counters pollen allergies
• Reduces homocysteine levels to maintain a healthy heart
Now, you want to make sure to use RAW honey. The processing of commercial honey destroys the natural enzymes, vitamins, and minerals. And when this happens, it becomes nothing more than a spoonful of sugar.
How To Make Apple Tea
To make this drink, all you need is:
- a mug of warm water
- 1 tsp of honey
- 2 tsp of apple cider vinegar with the mother
- Mix well and serve
Be sure include a straw for your kid to drink through so it doesn’t wither away at their enamel.
I give this to my girls 3 times a week for prevention (when I remember), but daily if they say they don’t feel well or they become sick.
Number 2: Give your child a daily PROBIOTIC.
Over 70% of your immune system lives in your GUT. Kids are super susceptible to germs, infections, and sickness (which they love to pass on to you). Awww. Sharing is caring.
A daily probiotic will strengthen their gut, and a strong gut means a strong immune system by connection.
By giving them a daily kid-friendly probiotic, you are increasing your kid’s defense system. If they have a better defense system, their chances of getting sick goes wayyyyyy down, and even better? The chances of them passing their sickness to you goes down too! I’m cool with that!
